Offering woodlands, two extensive marshes, a weedy field and a
pond with active beavers, Dismal Brook attracts a spectacular
variety of birds (the site’s checklist numbers 144 species). The
preserve boasts wide, well -maintained trails, two observation
decks for viewing the marshes and comfortable benches at strategic
points. The walk will cover about two miles, most of it on even
ground, except for the quarter -mile, gentle climb up to the cabin
overlooking the pond Rain cancels the walk.
