Lights Out New Haven

Some great news for migrating birds in New Haven.

The Dean of the Yale Divinity School has issued a proclamation that the Yale Divinity Campus will follow the National Audubon Society Lights Out Recommendations to protect migrating birds through the City of New Haven.

Furthermore, the Dean of the Yale School of the Environment is also considering issuing a similar proclamation.

This effort is the result of a group of Yale students working with the New Haven Bird Club, the Connecticut Ornithological Association, and the Menunkatuck Audubon Chapter to further the National Audubon Society Lights Out program on the local level.

We will gather together other stakeholders to expand the Lights Out to the rest of New Haven and the state of Connecticut.

Connecticut is on the Atlantic Flyway and serves a crucial role for bird migration in Autumn and Spring.
