\nSharpen your shorebird identification skills at one of the best places to see shorebirds in the state.
\nThere will be an indoor presentation followed by outdoor field study. The event is co-sponsored
\nby COA and the Connecticut Audubon Society. Meet at the coastal center parking lot. The

Raptor Workshop<\/strong>
\nSunday, September 16, 2018 from 9:00 am to 10:00 am<\/strong>
\nLighthouse Point Park, New Haven (at the Migration Festival)<\/strong>
\nLearn how to identify raptors as they pass by in fall migration. You\u2019ll learn how to identify the
\nvarious buteos, accipiters, eagles, vultures, and falcons that can be observed in CT. The
\nworkshop will be held during the Migration Festival, run by the New Haven Parks Department.

Sparrow Workshop<\/strong>
\nSaturday, October 20, 2018 from 8:00 am to 11:00 am (rain date, Sunday, 10\/21\/18).<\/strong>
\nSherwood Island State Park, Westport<\/strong>
\nImprove your identification skills of the numerous sparrow species that are found in CT by
\nattending this workshop. We will have an indoor review session followed by a walk in the park.
\nWe\u2019ll review how to differentiate between similar species and gain a greater appreciation for this
\nremarkable group of birds. October is the height of sparrow migration and we may see ten or
\nmore species on the trip. Meet at the nature center parking lot at the east end of the park at 8:00
\nam. The workshop is free and open to COA members and non-members alike.

Sea Duck Workshop<\/strong>

\nHammonasset Beach State Park, Madison<\/strong>
\nLearn how to identify the different waterfowl species that visit our coast in fall and winter,
\nincluding loons, grebes, scoters, eider, and scaup. We\u2019ll review how to differentiate between
\nsimilar species. After a discussion session, we\u2019ll look out into the sound to see what we can find.
