Roger Tory Peterson announces the formation of COA in the January 1984 issue of The Connecticut Warbler

Milan Bull on the origins of COA and The Connecticut Warbler
The origins of Connecticut Ornithological Association go back to the early 1980s when a group of enthusiastic young bird banders decided to reach out to other banders and create a publication about birds. They soon found interest beyond the banding community and a new organization dedicated to birds and birding was formed. Here, Milan Bull, who was one of the three originators, recalls how The Connecticut Warbler journal and the Connecticut Ornithological Association began 40 years ago.
